Health
Why it matters
Black men are dying younger than almost anyone else in America, and it is not because of bad choices. It is because of a system that screens them late, treats them last, and earned their mistrust honestly. Too many Black men meet a doctor for the first time in an emergency room instead of at a checkup. Prostate cancer stalks Black men at twice the kill rate, and too many find out when it is already too late. Every year stolen is a father missing from the dinner table, a grandfather missing from the cookout, a mentor missing from the block.
UBLA refuses to accept that math. We bring the clinic to the community: free screening clinics for kidney, prostate, and preventive care; fitness programming that turns strength into brotherhood; and mental health support that tells every Black man he can hurt and heal out loud. Because you cannot build wealth, lead a community, or invent the future if you are not alive and well to do it. Health is where thriving begins: longer lives, stronger bodies, fuller years, and more Black men present for everything they were made for.
